Woodlot Services – Private Land Forest Assessment for Timber Value

Woodlot Services – Private Land Forest Assessment for Timber Value

Landowners interested in having timber harvested from their property and supplementing their income can contact Ken Fosty for an on-site woodlot walk’n talk.
Ken has 30 years of direct woodlot experience and will ‘timber cruise’ the property with the landowner. With the aid of photo imagery, he will provide an estimate of timber volume and stumpage value.
Ken has up-to-date knowledge of current timber prices and numerous contacts with Forestry Harvesting Contractors across Manitoba. Ken provides a written “Contract for Sale of Standing Timber” to the landowner and acts as a liason with the harvesting contractor and landowner.
The Contract for Sale of Standing Timber is a valuable tool for both parties as it details the harvesting process including down-payment, access, timing, duration, insurance liability, etc to ensure satisfaction for both parties.
Ken’s recommendations also include recreational benefits, wildlife enhancement, planting trees and berry producing shrubs, seedling sources, traditional and non-timber forest products.
Timing: Year Round
Duration: One Day

Seminars are all-inclusive. All of the materials, props, equipment and handout material are supplied.

Establishing and Maintaining Hybrid Poplar Plantations

Establishing and Maintaining Hybrid Poplar Plantations

Planting fast-growing hybrid poplar for future firewood, pulpwood or saw logs may be of interest to landowners interested in converting agricultural land into permanent tree cover.
Ken Fosty was directly involved in coordinating and implementing a massive tree planting program that saw 1,000 acres of hybrid poplar plantations planted on private land across Manitoba.
This pictorial audio-visual presentation shows all aspects of hybrid poplar planting including seedling selection, site selection and preparation, planting and weed control.
Proper planning and scheduling of maintenance intervals are discussed. What works and what doesn’t.
Timing: Year Round
Duration: 1.5 hours
Seminars are all-inclusive. All of the materials, props, equipment and handout material are supplied.
